Desert Trip

Stan was at summer camp and the camp leader told everybody about a planned trip to the desert the following Friday.

There were 30 people at the camp, but there wasn't enough space on the desert trip for everybody. Only the first ten could go, and so Stan wasted no time in putting his name down. He had never been to the desert, and was really excited.

The camp leader, Mick, explained that they would have to leave very early in the morning, at 5 o'clock, because the bus would take 4 hours to get there. They would be taking a packed lunch and would explore the desert in teams. Everybody had to wear a hat because of the heat.

They expected to get back at 9:00 at night. It would be a very long day, but Stan was prepared for it.
